Welcome to our February 2021 Newsletter!
What a year 2020 was for everyone. The COVID-19 pandemic caused all sorts of changes to our way of life and how we interacted with each other. During this time, we have been busy expanding our scope of training. We applied to ASQA in October 2020 to add courses in health and community services. As a result of a lot of hard work ASQA approved the addition of 4 courses in January 2021.
Due to changes to the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 effective from 1 January 2021 all students will be issued with this new privacy notice at the time of enrolment. This new privacy notice makes it easier for students to understand how their private information which is gathered at the time of enrolment, will be handled by The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) which is an Australian non-profit organisation owned by the Commonwealth and state and territory ministers responsible for vocational education and training. The privacy notice will also give students direct links to the NCVER and also Academy of Workplace Learning’s privacy policies.
New Certificates have been added to our scope
As a result of the NDIS, we had become more aware of meeting the needs of organisations that employ staff looking after people with a disability and the increased need for staff training. We have had many enquiries in regards to providing the above training and are happy that we will be able to offer the following courses:
- CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support
- CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability
- CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support; and
- CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health
Changes to First Aid Training
In October 2020 HLTAID003 Provide First Aid was replaced by HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty and applies to anyone who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
It also specifies the requirements for refresher training that should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
10735NAT – Course in Disability First Aid has been rolled out during 2020
During 2020 we started rolling out the training course in Disability First Aid. This vital training teaches people what to do in an emergency situation in the minutes before an ambulance arrives. The standard first-aid course teaches valuable first aid techniques and skills however it does not cover the many circumstances that are unique to people with disabilities. This course was developed to address this need.
Changes to the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package
In June 2020 the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package for Certificate III in Warehousing Operations was removed and a new course Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations was introduced. These changes can be found on the training, gov.au website. As a result Academy of Workplace Learning is able to offer this new training which has the ability to enable more tailoring of subjects to your workplace.
