HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid Course
This First Aid course is nationally accredited providing participants with the qualification to be a First Aid representative in a range of situations, including: in the home, workplace or within the community, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. The course we deliver is highly practical and focuses on real safety situations.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for anyone who wants the required knowledge and skills to confidently respond in an emergency first aid situation.
It is a requirement of this unit that students are to perform a minimum of 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor. This is a mandatory requirement and no exceptions can be made.
How is the course delivered?
The course is made up of two components: an online component and a practical face-to-face component.
Course pre-work is in the form of an online workbook. A link to the online workbook will be provided to all participants in a confirmation email after course booking has been made.
The practical component must be completed in a face-to-face training environment, usually the workplace, where students will learn the practical skills to help them apply first aid.
Students will learn;
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
- Fractures and dislocations
- Burns and scalds
- Head, chest and spinal injuries
- Fainting and unconsciousness
- Bandaging techniques
- Breathing difficulties
- Poisoning, bites, stings and more.
Student assessments are based on the following activities:
- Multiple choice theory exam
- Group activities and oral questioning throughout the course
- Practical demonstrations/skills assessments.
